Tantra
in Practice (Hardcover) by David Gordon White. D.G.
White, author of the excellent yogic study and adventure
story, "The Alchemical Body," here presents an
edited compilation of articles about authentic Tantra
traditions taken from the length & breadth of
Indian-influenced Asia. Countries & cultures include:
India (obviously), China, Tibet. Nepal and Japan, with
articles on Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, Islamic and Shinto
tantric traditions. Topics vary from architecture to
ethnography to poetry. The quality of the contributions is
uniformly very good--well-written and well-organized--and
most chapters include a translation, in whole or part, of
an important or obscure tantra. Reading this volume will
go a long way toward removing our conditioned ignorance,
delusion and gullibility about "sacred sex" and
"sacred orgasms," the phallacy of worshipping
the linga/yoni of your current hot-sex partner as a god/dess,
and the like. (From one of the Reviews at Amazon.com) |
| Kalachakra
Tantra: Rite of Initiation (Paperback) by Dalai
Lama , His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The Kalachakra--Wheel
of Time--tantra is the most detailed and encompassing
system of theory and practice within Tibetan Buddhism. It
has been popularized in recent times by The Dalai Lama,
who publicly gives the Kalachakra initiation every year
all around the world. This book is an excellent resource
and can be highly recommended to those preparing to take a
Kalachakra initiation, such as the upcoming one in
Toronto, April-May 2004. HH the Dalai Lama gives one or
two Kalachakra initiations every year, so this book should
be very valuable in future as well. The book is comprised
of two parts: an introduction by Jeffrey Hopkins (first
150 pages) and the commentary/teaching of the Dalai Lama
throughout the actual initation (the rest of the book),
plus a few texts on 6-session guruyoga and a sadhana at
the end. (Reviewer: Nessander) |
| The
Tantric Cookbook of Nini Tantrini is an unusually
powerful transmission of collective uses for Kundalini's
Shakti-Shiva energy. Magical format, beautiful word art
and poetry render each page its own book, the better to
explain the tantric recipes for personal evolution and the
planet's orbital revolution. Nini, prepared by all Tibetan
lineages, traveled to Tibet and the Himalayas four times,
where she collected sacred lakes and mountains. At each of
these pivot points for geomancy, Nini had contact with
"Sky Dancers" who transmitted this book. It is
purposely nonlinear and holographic in its scope, to
better serve your mental expansion. The great Kalagni is a
great light that comes at the end of an aeon. It is a
controlled role (roll,) for the magnetic poles and the
body's magnetic fields entwine in the ultimate tantric act
- a controlled pole shift. Learn how to own and rehone our
collective conscious dream - this Earth; by purchasing the
limited editon. Most pages printed on white paper, the
better to illustrate form and its illusions. A few
brightly colored pages highlight expedient information in
changing times. There's a holographic foil cover - fragile
to sunlight's solar flares, and meant to scratch -
phenomena! Color inside cover, 342 pages, 7 by 10 inches,
packed with rare beautiful information. |
| Kundalini
Tantra by Swami Satyananda Saraswati. This is a
totally revised Edition of Kundalini Tantra brought out by
Yoga Publications Trust which has been formed as a
separate entity exclusively for Publishing the Books
brought out by Bihar School Of Yoga. Kundalini Yoga is a
part of the tantric tradition. Even though you may have
already been introduced to yoga, it is necessary to know
something about tantra also. Since ancient times, the wise
have realised that mind can be expanded and that
experiences do not necessarily depend on the object. This
means that if somebody is playing music, I can hear it,
and if somebody has painted a picture, I can see it, but I
can also see if there is no picture, and I can also hear
if there is no music. This is also a quality of man's
personality which has been ignored in the last 150 to 200
years. This Book presents a systematic and pragmatic
approach to the awakening of kudalini, which arouses
greater intelligence from it's sleep and you can give
birth to a new range of creativity. |
| Introduction
to Tantra : The Transformation of Desire by Lama
Yeshe, Jonathan Landaw, Philip Glass. This book explains
this complicated system very well in approximately 168
pages. For people looking for more in-depth explanations
and lots of history, try "Secret of the Vajra
World" by Reginald Ray. However, I would still get
Lama Yeshe's book as a roadmap or excellent short summary
presented in a different style. Lastly, Lama Yeshe has a
gift for words. While the many of the concepts of tantra
are presented in other reputable works, there is something
about Lama Yeshe's presentation that carries a combination
of depth and simplicity that sinks in deeply and touches
the heart. (Reviewer: Patrick D. Goonan.) |
| Tantra:
Path of Ecstasy by Georg Phd Feuerstein.
Feuerstein has attempted a daunting task, defining Tantric
Yoga drawn from Hindu and not Tibetan Buddhist sources. To
do this, he has assembled a wide-ranging compendium of
Hindu, Tantric and Shaivite texts almost impossible to
find in one place elsewhere. To plunge into this book is
to find yourself rushing down the sacred River Ganges
through the heart of India. Like a sophisticated
travelogue, it brings into sharp focus the rich tapestry
of the Indian ecstatic life and the exotic practices of
Tantric Yoga that take place, metaphorically, on the banks
of this Queen of rivers. Written with literate modesty and
erudition, this book is an invaluable resource. Copyright

of Western Tantra: The Sexuality of the Middle Path
by Christopher S. Hyatt. Here is a book which provides a
direct, honest, pragmatic, no-holds-barred approach to the
most powerful methods for personal growth and spiritual
attainment. Sex is one of the most powerful forces on the
planet and, until it is transformed, the people and the
planet will remain asleep. You will find mixed reviews

| Tantra:
The Indian Cult of Ecstasy (Art & Imagination).
How does time function? What is ecstasy? What is illusion?
How does the kundalini work? These questions and more are
answered in the amazing work. In the first half, the
author gives a clear and concise explanation of tantrik
cosmology, explaining exactly how tantra perceives, men,
women and indeed, perception itself. This is followed by a
lengthy treatment of the tantrik path of spiritual
illumination/transformation which dissolves the world of
illusion; the second half of the book features page after
page of beautiful tantrik painting & sculpture from
India, Nepal and China. I cannot recommend this book too
highly. (From one of the Reviews at Amazon.com) |
